JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan admitted that he could not convey his opinion or aspirations regarding the Omnibus Law on the Job Creation Law during a limited meeting with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) with the governors. Anies said that the governor could not convey the information in the meeting.

"Regarding the governor's meeting, all information was conveyed by the President, so we who were present could not provide information," Anies said as quoted by Antara, Saturday, October 10.

Anies explained that all statements were conveyed by Jokowi and the presidential team so that the representatives of the governor who were present could not convey their views on the Job Creation Law.

"Because the message is like that, we cannot convey any information," he said.

Previously, Anies Baswedan promised in front of the demonstrators that he would bring aspirations regarding the Job Creation Law to a meeting between governors throughout Indonesia.

Anies said that the aspirations of all components must be respected, not only in Jakarta, but also all places and their aspirations will always be respected.

Anies met with demonstrators who rejected the Job Creation Law at the HI Roundabout, Central Jakarta on Thursday night.

At that time, Anies promised to convey the aspirations of the masses who rejected the Job Creation Law at a meeting of the governor's representatives with Jokowi and his cabinet team.

President Jokowi previously straightened out various hoaxes surrounding the Job Creation Law. Jokowi emphasized that the Job Creation Law is needed to open up new jobs.

"In a closed meeting I emphasized why we need a Job Creation Law. First, every year there are around 2.9 million new working age young people who enter the labor market, so the need for new jobs is very urgent, ”said Jokowi, Friday, October 9.

Jokowi reviewed the conditions amid the COVID-19 pandemic, there were 6.9 million unemployed and 3.5 million workers affected by COVID-19. As many as 87 percent of the total working population, continued Jokowi, has a high school education level and below.

"So it is necessary to encourage the creation of new jobs, especially in the busy sector, so the Job Creation Law aims to provide as many jobs as possible for job seekers and unemployed people," said Jokowi.

In addition, the Job Creation Law according to Jokowi will make it easier for the community, especially micro and small businesses to open new businesses. Overlapping regulations and complicated procedures are said by Jokowi to be trimmed.
