TNI Chase KKB That Runs To Forest After Shooting Intan Jaya TGPF Group

JAKARTA - Head of Information (Kapen) Kogabwilhan III Col. Czi IGN Suriastawa said the TNI was still pursuing the Armed Criminal Group (KKB), which ambushed and shot the group of the Intan Jaya Joint Fact Finding Team (TGPF).

Suriastawa said the shooting took place in Mamba Village, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya after the team formed by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD carried out the crime scene (TKP) in Hitadifa.

"The shooting occurred on October 9 at 15.45 WIT when the TGPF group was on their way home and arrived at the Wagonopone incline, Mamba Village suddenly shot from the right and left of the road," said Suriastawa in a written statement received by VOI, Friday, October 9.

As a result of the shooting, currently a member of TGPF Intan Jaya who is also a lecturer at Gadjah Mada University Bambang Purwoko suffered a gunshot wound to his left leg, while a TNI member named Zainuddin suffered a gunshot wound to his waist. The two victims, said Suriastawa, were being treated intensively at the UPTD RSUD Sugapa.

As for the perpetrators, the TNI is currently pursuing them.

"Currently, the TNI is pursuing the KKB gang who fled into the forest around the scene after the shooting of the TGPF group," he said.

Furthermore, Suriastawa said this action and caused the victim to prove that so far the KKB had indeed often acted brutally and prioritized violence. In fact, he said, this action was carried out intentionally to obstruct the work of TGPF which was formed by the government some time ago.

"This shooting incident proves to the public that all this time KKSB has always acted brutally and deliberately obstructed the performance of TGPF which was formed by the government by involving credible figures to reveal the truth that happened after the death of Pastor Jeremia some time ago," he said.

Regarding the shooting, the spokesman for the West Papua National Liberation Army-Free Papua Organization (TPNB-OPM), Sebby Sambom, claimed to be responsible for what happened to the TGPF Intan Jaya group.

"Yes, TPNPB is responsible," Sebby said when contacted by reporters.

This interfering was carried out by his party, because he did not agree with the team set up by the Indonesian government. "That is our decision and with our demands we reject the investigation team formed by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD," he said.

According to him, the team that should be investigating Pastor Jeremiah's death should have come from independent circles, not from the government.

"We ask an independent team that must investigate, namely the United Nations, Komnas HAM, NGOs and the church," he concluded.
