Regent Ade Yasin Bribes Auditor For WTP Predicate, ICW: BPK Internal Supervisor Failed To Carry Out Its Function!

JAKARTA - Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) assessed that the internal supervisor of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) failed to carry out its responsibilities. This assessment came after four BPK auditors representing West Java were named suspects for accepting bribes from Bogor Regent Ade Yasin.

"The internal control instruments owned by BPK have failed to carry out their functions," said ICW's Political Corruption Division Coordinator, Egi Primayogha in a written statement to reporters, Thursday, April 28.

ICW regrets this incident. In fact, Egi said, BPK should be one of the institutions that helped eradicate corruption in the country. "This shows that BPK has never been serious about fixing its institutions," he said.

Furthermore, Egi said that this case was also a reminder that the Unqualified Predicate (WTP) from the BPK did not guarantee that an institution or regional government was free from corruption.

According to him, although the BPK emphasizes that the awarding of predicate is based on compliance with applicable laws and regulations as well as financial reports that are in accordance with State Financial Reporting Standards, in fact, many regions receiving WTP are still corrupt.

"It is important to remember that the predicate of WTP does not guarantee freedom from corruption," said Egi.

"Buying and selling predicate because it tends to be done to maintain prestige or lie to the public, that the institution he leads is clean from corruption. Even though that is not necessarily the case. Do not let the public misunderstand that," he added.

As previously reported, the KPK has named eight people as suspects in the alleged bribery case related to the management of the Bogor Regency Government (Pemkab) financial reports, West Java for the 2021 Fiscal Year.

As donors, namely the Bogor Regent for the 2018-2023 period Ade Yasin (AY), Secretary of the Bogor Regency Office Maulana Adam (MA), Head of the Regional Treasury for the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) Bogor Regency Ihsan Ayatullah (IA), and officials who made commitments. (PPK) at the Bogor Regency PUPR Office, Rizki Taufik (RT).

While the four suspects who received bribes, namely employees of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) Representative of West Java/Head of Sub Auditorat Jabar III/technical controller Anthon Merdiansyah (ATM), employees of BPK Representative of West Java/Chairman of the Interim Audit Team of Bogor Regency Arko Mulawan (AM), employee West Java Representative BPK/investigator Hendra Nur Rahmatullah Karwita (HNRK), and West Java Representative BPK/investigator Gerri Ginajar Trie Rahmatullah (GGTR).

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that Ade Yasin's alleged bribery was so that the Bogor Regency Government would get the title Unqualified (WTP). As for the silent operation, the confiscated evidence in the form of money reached Rp. 1.024 billion.
