1 TGPF Member Intan Jaya Formed By Mahfud MD Was Shot

JAKARTA - A member of the Intan Jaya Fact Finding Team (TGPF) formed by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD was shot while conducting an investigation in Hitadifa District, Intan Jaya, Papua.

This incident was confirmed by the Head of Information (Kapen) Joint Regional Defense Command (Kogabwilhan) III Col. Czi. IGN Suriastawa, who mentioned that there had been an interception of team members who were going to the place where Pastor Jeremiah died. This obstruction, he said, was carried out by an armed criminal group (KKB).

"The temporary information is true that KKB intercepted after carrying out the TKP at Hitadifa," said Suriastawa when confirmed by reporters, Friday, October 9.

As for the victims of the incident were a member of the TGPF and a member of the military who were part of the group.

The team that was formed to investigate the shooting incident that occurred in Intan Jaya District arrived in two groups and carried out a number of jobs including gathering witness statements.

"The two team groups led by Benny Mamoto and consisting of elements of community leaders, religious leaders, traditional leaders and campus leaders will immediately work. Previously, the Government formed a Joint Fact Finding Team (TGPF) to investigate the shooting incident that took place in Intan Jaya Regency, Papua. Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD said that the team was formed through the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Decree Number 83 of 2020 filled by a number of names from elements of officials at the Kemenkopolhukam, TNI, Polri, Presidential Staff Office, State Intelligence Agency, to community leaders.

"This team is given the task starting from the initial issuance of the decree until the next two weeks to report the results to the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs," Mahfud said in an online press conference, Friday, October 2.

The team must find the shooter who killed a number of people, including Reverend Yeremias at Intan Jaya so that the perpetrators can be immediately punished in order to minimize the accusations between the TNI and the separatist groups regarding the shooting.
