For Pekanbaru Residents, BPOM Finds More Than A Thousand Cosmetics Without Circulation Permits

JAKARTA - This information needs to be known to all residents of Pekanbaru, Riau. BPOM found 179 types of cosmetics without distribution permits and 1,043 pieces with an economic value of IDR 5,792,500.

"After being reported directly to the public via my cell phone in the second week of April 2022, this finding will be followed up in the third week," said Head of BBPOM Pekanbaru, Yosef Dwi Irwan in Pekanbaru, Wednesday, April 27, quoted from Antara.

The community is one of the important pillars to support complete supervision. One of the active roles of the community is through reporting when they see or find drug and food products that do not comply with regulations.

In order to support community involvement, he said, BBPOM in Pekanbaru opened a report channel to the Head (Complaints and Direct Information Service to the Head of the Balai) at number 081931181809

"Armed with information from the community reports that came through the Report to the Head, the BBPOM team in Pekanbaru immediately targeted two retail facilities in the Kampar Regency area which were indicated to sell products that did not have a distribution permit, such as cosmetics," he said.

In addition to cosmetics, he said, 19 items of 781 traditional medicines without a distribution permit were also found with an economic value of IDR 9,065,000 and 102 items of 776 hard drugs (list G) with an economic value of IDR 7,240,000.

He explained that the product without a distribution permit has not been evaluated for quality and safety by the POM so that it poses a risk to health. Meanwhile, hard drugs (list G) can only be submitted based on a doctor's prescription and must be in pharmaceutical service facilities such as hospitals, pharmacies, health centers and clinics that have pharmacists in charge.

"Means that do not have a special permit are prohibited from selling strong drugs because of the potential for misuse that poses a risk to health," he said.

Yosef Dwi Irwan said, regarding the findings, the owner handed it over to the officers for destruction, and was subject to a stern warning.

The owner also makes a statement not to commit a violation if it still repeats it can be subject to sanctions as regulated in Law No. 36 of 2009 concerning Health.
