The DKI Provincial Government Determines These Six Museum Collections To Be Cultural Heritage Objects

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Culture Service has designated six museum collections as objects of cultural heritage. These six objects are in the Museum of Fine Arts and Ceramics, the Jakarta History Museum, and the Joang '45 Museum.

The six objects of cultural heritage are the painting of the Regent of Cianjur by Raden Saleh, the painting of Bride of the Revolution by Hendra Gunawan, the painting of Prambanan Seko by S. Sudjojono, the painting of Dewi by Agus Djaya, Cannon Si Jagur, and the Rep-1 car which is President Soekarno's official vehicle. .

Head of the DKI Culture Office, Iwan Henry Wardhana, said that this cultural heritage object was determined after going through a review process from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Cultural Conservation Expert Team.

"The objects that are designated as cultural heritage objects are superior collections from each museum which have important historical and artistic values and meet the criteria as Cultural Conservation Objects," said Iwan in Jakarta, Wednesday, April 27.

Iwan revealed that the painting by the Regent of Cianjur by Raden Saleh Sjarif Boestaman is a collection of the Museum of Fine Arts and Ceramics designated as a Cultural Conservation Object through the Governor's Decree no. 334 Year 2022.

This canvas painting uses oil paint as the media, this European romantic realism style painting is part of the first repertoire of realism in the development of modern painting.

Meanwhile, the painting Bride of the Revolution by Hendra Gunawan, which was painted in 1955, was determined by Decree No. 333 Year 2022. The painting is one of Hendra Gunawan's best works which records social life and traditions that developed in society during the 1945-1949 independence revolution war.

Then, Agus Djaya's Dewi painting was designated as a Cultural Conservation Object through the Gubernatorial Decree No. 366 of 2022. This painting, which was made in 1962, represents the 1960s Indonesian modern painting style which expresses Javanese mythological traditions. Dewi's painting expresses the figure of Nyi Roro Kidul, the queen of the south coast rulers with the flow of impressionism.

Another collection of paintings is the Prambanan/Seko Painting by S. Sudjojono which was determined through the Governor's Decree No. 367 Year 2022. This painting based on realism at the time, which was made in 1949, captures the atmosphere after the second military aggression.

Meanwhile, the Si Jagur Cannon which is located in Fatahillah Park is designated as a cultural heritage object through the Governor's Decree No. 351 Year 2022. In the past, this cannon was used as a weapon by the Portuguese and the Dutch. It has many distinctive decorations, mainly in the form of a fist with the thumb positioned between the index and middle fingers at the base of the cannon.

Furthermore, the Rep-1 Car was designated as a cultural heritage object through the Governor's Decree No. 365 Year 2022. This American-style car produced in 1939 was used by Soekarno as his first official vehicle when he served as President.

After being no longer used by Bung Karno, this car was stored in the palace garage and in 1979 it was handed over to the National Daily Council by the palace and Bung Karno's family to be enshrined in the Joang '45 Museum as a collection.
