Formula E Investigation Is Still Ongoing, KPK Will Ask For Information From Many Parties, Including PT Jakpro

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said the investigation into alleged corruption in the implementation of the Formula E racing event was still ongoing. A number of parties will be questioned, including PT Jakarta Propertindo which is the organizer.

Deputy Chairperson of the KPK Alexander Marwata said that this request for information was important before raising the allegation for investigation. There are a number of things that will still be investigated further, such as the payment of the commitment fee to its implementation.

"So far, the investigation process is ongoing and we are still looking for information, for example regarding how Formula E is organized in other countries. Is there any kind of commitment fee and so on and we are also seeking information from the party who received the transfer of funds from the DKI Provincial Government," Alexander said in a statement. press conference at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, April 26.

"Of course, later we will continue to explore including information from Jakpro as the organizer," he added.

In addition, the KPK will also investigate the alleged mechanism error in the financing of the international racing event.

One of them, continued Alexander, is related to regulations from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) which have stated that the APBD budget cannot be used for activities aimed at business.

"So business to business cannot be financed with the APBD budget, there is already information from the regional government, from the Ministry of Home Affairs when the DKI Provincial Government asks for input," he said. In fact, in 2023, DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan will end his term of office.

"There is a stipulation that an official may not bind a contract that uses a budget and passes his term of office. There is such a provision, well, we will look into it by asking for expert testimony," said Alexander.

"Because the money comes out of the regional treasury, not from Jakpro. We are still investigating this in the investigation process, so there is still a lot of information that must be explored further regarding the payment mechanism and the implementation of Formula E," he concluded.
