Homecoming Flow 2022: Nearly 600,000 Vehicles Leave Jakarta In 4 Days

JAKARTA - Around 600 thousand vehicles have been observed leaving Jakarta for the last four days. The estimate is based on the number of vehicles passing at the four toll gates (GT).

"During Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, for those 4 days, nearly 600 thousand (vehicles, ed) left Jakarta," said Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo at KM 57 of the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road, Tuesday, 26 April.

The four GTs that are the basis for calculating the number of vehicles are the Cikampek Utama GT for Central Java, the Kalihurip Utama GT for Bandung, the Ciawi GT, and the Cikupa GT for Merak.

Although hundreds of thousands of vehicles have left Jakarta, Sambodo said the number will continue to grow. Because, it is predicted that 2.8 vehicles will leave Jakarta during Eid 2022.

"But it's still a long way off because it is estimated that there are still 2.8 million leaving Jakarta," said Sambodo.

For information, the peak of the 2022 Eid homecoming flow is predicted to occur on April 28 and 29. The National Police and the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) decided to implement several traffic flow schemes.

The first scheme is to apply odd-even on toll roads. Then, contraflow and the last one way to unravel the bottleneck.
