Thousands Of Rioters Seized In Jakarta And West Java, 47 Of Them Reactive To COVID-19

JAKARTA - Thousands of people were arrested because they were suspected of being involved in the rioting behind the demonstration against the ratification of the Job Creation Law.

Based on the data, of the thousands of people, some of them tested positive for COVID-19.

Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono, said that at least 47 people tested positive for COVID-19. Most of them are in the Jakarta area.

"The latest development is that 34 demonstrators in DKI are reactive (COVID-19)," said Argo in his statement, Thursday, October 8.

Then, 13 other people were declared to be in the West Java region. Dozens of people have been isolated so as not to infect other people.

Meanwhile, in Jakarta, those who were declared reactive were brought to the Athlete's House to undergo isolation.

"For the Jakarta area, everything has been rushed to Wisma Atlet," said Argo.

Previously it was reported, Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said that a thousand people suspected of rioters had been arrested. Those arrested were members of the anarcho group.

"If there are about a thousand rioters, we will secure it," he said.

One thousand rioters were arrested in several locations in Jakarta. They are suspected of being involved in the vandalism of public facilities in Jakarta.

"Yes, in the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya everything was secured," he said.
