PROBOLINGGO - Probolinggo City Police arrested 28 suspects in cases of drug abuse and illegal drugs of methamphetamine and drug trafficking without a permit from January to April 2022.

"Eradication of narcotics abuse is a commitment from the beginning, so we will continue to eradicate narcotics crimes, especially in the jurisdiction of the Probolinggo City Police," said Probolinggo City Police Chief AKBP Wadi Sa'bani in a release, Antara, Tuesday, April 26.

From January to early April 2022, the Probolinggo City Police revealed 21 cases, namely 14 narcotics cases and 7 cases of drug trafficking without a permit.

"From the 21 cases, the number of suspects we have secured is 28 people, but two suspects have entered stage 2, namely the prosecutor's office," he said.

For the evidence that was secured, there were 27 packages of methamphetamine with varying weights and 5,026 pills of the trihexyphenidyl and dextro types which were subsequently confiscated for further investigation.

"Based on the results of the investigation for the distribution area of the abuse of narcotics crime, the suspects were also carried out outside the City of Probolinggo, namely Malang and Pasuruan, while the drugs came from Surabaya, Pasuruan and Malang," he said.

For the status of the suspects who were secured, 25 suspects were found to be dealers and were found to be carrying narcotics, while three suspects were found to be carrying evidence as well as users.

"They were charged with Article 114 and/or Article 112 of Indonesian Law Number 35 of 2009 and for three suspects who were found to be carrying evidence as well as users, they were charged with Article 112 and/or Article 127 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics," he said.
