Starting April 30, Analog TV Broadcasts In 166 Regencies And Cities In Indonesia Stopped

JAKARTA - The process of switching analog TV to digital TV will take place soon. Implementation will begin on April 30.

Director of Broadband Development of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (Kominfo) Marvels Situmorang said that there were three stages of stopping analog TV broadcasts into digital TV.

"The first one will take place at the end of this month, which is April 30. It will cover 56 broadcast areas covering 166 regencies/cities," he said in a written statement, Monday, April 26.

Furthermore, on August 5, the transition from analog TV to digital TV will be felt in 31 broadcast areas covering 110 regencies/cities.

"And finally, November 2, 25 broadcast service areas cover 65 regencies/cities," he added, as reported by Antara.

This Marvel explanation took place during the 'Virtual Public Discussion of Analog Switch Off (ASO) Socialization and Set Top Box (STB) Assistance Delivery Ceremony'. The event was attended by members of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics along with Commission I of the DPR.

Apart from Marvel, those who took part in the discussion were DPR Commission I member Dave Akbarshah Fikarno Laksono, Deputy Chair of the Cirebon Regency DPRD, Teguh Rusna Merdeka.

Dave Laksono said that some of the common phenomena of digitalization in broadcasting, namely the rapid growth of new technologies, new concepts, new applications that were previously unthinkable are now all running.

In addition, new broadcasting platforms emerged, such as Netflix and video.Com, and HBO.

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics invites the public to switch from analog television to digital television because then the community will also help the government accelerate digital transformation.

The transition from analog TV to digital TV is one of the policies taken by the government through the Ministry of Communication and Informatics to gradually stop the current analog television broadcasts and replace them with digital television broadcasts (digital migration).
