The Impact Of Demonstrations, Jakarta MRT Construction Tools Burned

JAKARTA - The demonstration against the Job Creation Law was chaotic. Clashes occurred in a number of areas in Jakarta which resulted in damage to a number of facilities.

One that was damaged was a number of MRT Phase 2 construction equipment on Jalan MH Thamrin. This was confirmed by the PR of PT MRT Jakarta Muhammad Kamaluddin.

"Due to today's demonstration, October 8, 2020, several MRT Phase 2 construction equipment were affected, including 2 1Mini Excavator devices belonging to contractor CP201," Kamaluddin told reporters, Thursday, October 8.

In addition, several project fences that closed the MRT Phase 2 project construction route also collapsed and were scrawled. Kamal said that the construction equipment that had been burned this afternoon had been extinguished.

"The fire incident at the 2 mini excavators has been extinguished by the Jakarta Police and the Fire Department. Currently waiting for the evacuation process," he said.

In addition, MRT Jakarta has closed a number of stations, due to the situation where the demonstration against the Job Creation Law was not conducive.

"The HI Roundabout Station, Dukuh Atas BNI, Setiabudi Astra, Bendungan Hilir, Istora Mandiri, Senayan and ASEAN are temporarily closed," said Kamal.

That way, said Kamal, the stations operating only at Lebak Bulus Station to Blok M BCA Station.

"Considering the current security situation in the underground station area which is still not conducive, the Jakarta MRT currently only operates from Lebak Bulus Station to Blok M BCA Station while awaiting further developments in the security situation," he said.
