The Peak Of The Homecoming Flow Will Occur This Week, Minister Of Transportation Budi Urges Residents To Return To Their Villages Before April 28

JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, appealed to residents or travelers to return to their hometowns early. This is because the volume of traffic in this year's homecoming flow has begun to show an upward trend.

The implementation of this early homecoming is carried out to avoid the accumulation of vehicles on the homecoming route, which will soon approach the D-Day of Idul Fitri 2022.

"The simulation has shown that the VC ratio (the ratio of vehicle volume to road capacity) is high or approaching traffic jams," said Budi, Sunday, April 24.

Budi said the government had predicted the total number of homecomers would reach 85.5 million this year. So, he also appealed to people who want to go home to return home immediately on 23-27 April 2022.

Because, Budi added, it is estimated that the peak of the homecoming flow will occur on April 28-30 2022. "So, the hope is to carry out homecoming today, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow," said Budi. Previously, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy said, Central Java (Central Java) would be the highest concentration area for homecoming during this year's Eid.

"Central Java is the highest concentration of homecoming flows," said Muhadjir, Sunday, April 24.

Therefore, continued Muhadjir, the government hopes that people can use the southern route to break concentration and reduce congestion. In order to anticipate the density of travelers on the main route and the North Coast route (Pantura), the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture has also asked the Central Java Police to promote alternative routes, namely the southern route and the South Coast route.

Muhadjir asked the Central Java Police to prepare various facilities needed on the southern route. This is also in accordance with President Jokowi's suggestion to take advantage of the southern route to return to his hometown.

"I beg the Governor (Ganjar Pranowo) and the Kapolda to campaign, especially those who live in areas and cities in the southern region, should use the southern route," he explained.
