JAKARTA - A total of 156 Inter-City Inter-Provincial (AKAP) bus drivers have undergone a urine test provided by the Kalideres Terminal, West Jakarta, before driving a bus with homecomers.

This is done to ensure the health status of the driver who will carry passengers this Eid homecoming season.

"So far we have carried out urine tests on 156 bus drivers. We will do this routinely during the Eid homecoming season," said Head of Kalideres Terminal, Revi Zulkarnaen, when met at the Kalideres terminal, reported by Antara, Sunday, April 24.

Of the 156 drivers who underwent urine tests, Revi confirmed that no one was found to have consumed narcotics. However, there were some drivers who were observed to be unwell.

"So there is a driver who just came from another terminal and immediately took a urine test. Maybe because he was still tense because he was taking the bus, he had hypertension, but after resting and taking two urine tests, the results were normal," said Revi.

If a driver is caught using narcotics, his party will take several steps.

The driver will be checked and brought to the Autobus Company (PO). There the terminal will ask for an explanation from the bus PO regarding the findings.

"At the same time, we will ask for a replacement driver to bring homecomers," he said.

After that, his party will take the driver to the terminal security post for further information. Then, the security post will take the driver to the Kalideres Police for further legal proceedings.

Revi hopes that the bus drivers who are active at the Kalideres terminal will maintain their health and not consume narcotics for the safety of passengers.
