LPA Accompanies Children Who Become Suspects Of Amaq Sinta Beheading In Central Lombok

MATARAM - The Mataram Child Protection Agency (LPA) together with a team from Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, accompanied a child who was a suspect in the Amaq Sinta beheading case.

The head of the Mataram LPA, Joko Jumadi, said that his party provided assistance so that the treatment was in accordance with the legal procedures for juvenile criminal justice.

"So, handling children in conflict with the law is different from handling adults. Because in the juvenile criminal justice system, the handling process is specifically regulated," said Joko, quoted by Antara in a written statement, Friday, April 22.

However, Joko reminded that children who are in trouble with the law do not mean they cannot be punished or otherwise receive preferential treatment.

The rules, he said, have been mandated in accordance with Law No. 11/2012 on the Juvenile Criminal Justice System.

One of them, he said, discussed the suspect's right to education. It is known that the suspect with the initials H (17) is a student whose orientation is still entitled to a proper education.

"This child has been out of school for 3 months, so that is one of the efforts to find the right solution," he said.

Therefore, Joko and the LPA Team coordinated this with the NTB Police and met with the Head of Public Relations of the NTB Police, Kombes Artanto.

In the activity which took place on Friday (22/4), Joko and his team gave legal views on the implementation of the juvenile criminal justice system.

Suspect H is currently still in custody at the Central Lombok Police. Joko ensured that his status was not detained but was under the supervision and security of the police in accordance with a request from the parents of suspect H.

However, LPA is trying to get H to undergo the legal process from home without having to undergo a secured status at the Central Lombok Police.

"We hope to be able to return to his parents' house, of course later with the supervision of the police," he said.

Suspect H is one of three suspected perpetrators of the Amaq Sinta beheading. Two of his colleagues, O and P were killed in the action. Meanwhile, his colleague, with the initials W (22), is currently being detained at the NTB Police Rutan.

The Head of Public Relations of the NTB Police, Kombes Artanto, said that the handling of the W and H cases was currently under investigation by the Sub-Directorate II for Jatanras, Ditreskrimum, the NTB Police.

"Recently, the case files belonging to the two suspects have been transferred to the research prosecutor. So now it's just a matter of waiting for the results," said Artanto.
