Police Arrest Perpetrators Of Van Maminasatta Bus Vandalism In Makassar

MAKASSAR - The Biringkanaya Police Resmob team assisted by the Jatanras team from the Makassar Polrestabes, South Sulawesi Police (South Sulawesi) arrested the perpetrators of the vandalism of the Trans Maminasatta Bus which went viral on social media.

"We arrested one in Pettarani as the driver, the other his brother. He tried to hide it, after we checked him, he admitted that the orange shirt was his brother. He wanted to be protected on purpose," said Biringkanaya Police Chief Kompol Andi Alimuddin as reported by Antara, Friday, April 22.

The arrest of the perpetrator with the initials R, who is 28 years old, ended after the chase started at the five-way roundabout of the Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport until he was cornered in front of the South Sulawesi Traffic Directorate Office, Jalan Andi Pangeran Pettarani, last night.

During initial interrogation, the perpetrator argued that he only did it alone, but in the video, another person in an orange shirt intercepted and damaged the Trans Maminasatta Bus.

Finally, R admitted that the person in the orange shirt was his brother with the initials F, 41 years old, after being pressed by officers.

Initially, the police team received a report from Randi, the victim and driver of the Maminasatta Bus managed by PT Sinar Jaya Mega Langgeng. The investigative team is also investigating a video that went viral when the perpetrator broke the bus window.

"Alhamdulillah. After there was a report, we watched the viral video again, the investigators immediately carried out an investigation and succeeded in identifying the car used by the perpetrator," continued Kompol Andi.

The incident took place on Thursday, April 21, 2020, at around 13.00 WITA on Jalan Kapasa Raya, Biringkanaya District. From the chronology of the incident, the bus with the perpetrator's car passed each other, then the bus bounced so that the perpetrator became emotional, then chased the bus and then blocked it.

The perpetrator then hit the window glass out of emotion, and even took stones and threw stones at the windshield of the bus until it cracked and had holes in it. The incident was recorded by bus passengers. Losses are estimated at IDR 7 million.

"It happened spontaneously, because when the bus bounced left, the perpetrator was offended. The bus stopped because it was almost hit. The perpetrator immediately got down and barged his car. Then did the damage. The evidence has been secured. Article 170 of the Criminal Code. Both have been detained," said Commissioner Andi.
