JAKARTA - Merdeka Institute researcher Mohammad Yafi said the results of a survey conducted by his institution showed Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate who had the highest positive sentiment in cyberspace.
He explained that although Anies Baswedan was the most talked about, Prabowo Subianto actually became a presidential candidate who received a lot of positive sentiment from netizens or netizens.
"As many as 25.4 percent of the total netizens who talked about Prabowo tended to convey positive remarks about the General Chair of the Gerindra Party, only 12.4 percent tended to be negative, and the remaining 62.2 percent were neutral," Yafi said in his statement, quoted by Antara. , Thursday, April 21.
He explained that the presidential candidate with the second best positive sentiment was Ganjar Pranowo, as many as 20.6 percent of the total netizens who talked about Ganjar tended to convey positive remarks.
However, according to him, the number of conversations with negative sentiments about Ganjar reached 17.9 percent and 61.5 percent of conversations were neutral.
"The presidential candidate with the third best sentiment is Anies Baswedan, 18.9 percent of conversations about Anies in cyberspace tend to be positive and 50.2 percent are neutral. However, Anies is the top five candidate with the highest negative sentiment, namely 30.9 percent of conversations about Anies contains negative sentiments," he said.
Yafi explained that Prabowo's high positive sentiment was influenced by several factors, first, the positive performance as the best minister in the Jokowi Cabinet Volume II, apparently opened the public's eyes regarding Prabowo's totality in carrying out state duties.
Second, according to him again, Prabowo's attitude, which rarely wants to be involved in conversations about the 2024 presidential candidate, is appreciated by the public as a figure who is not as ambitious as a number of other ministers in Jokowi's Cabinet Volume II.
"Thirdly, Prabowo's statements tend to lead to finding solutions rather than building controversy over recent national problems," he said.
According to him, based on the Merdeka Institute's analysis, apart from having the highest positive sentiment, Prabowo has a higher potential reach level than the other top five presidential candidates.
This, according to Yafi, emphasized that Prabowo would be much more successful as a presidential candidate in 2024 if the General Chair of the Gerindra Party began to seriously and massively use the internet and various social media platforms to form public opinion.
The analytical methodology in research conducted by the Merdeka Institute uses a natural language processing (NLP) approach to extract opinions in text form.
The analysis uses the keywords of the names of the top five presidential candidates that often appear in survey publications of mainstream research institutions.
The dataset was collected from April 9 to 20, 2022, and the determination of the analysis period was based on several major national events or issues, such as student demonstrations, 3-period polemics, and violence against Ade Armando.
Opinion extraction method is done by using knowledge discovery in database (KDD) technique.
