JAKARTA - The head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Inspector General Firman Shantyabudi reminded that the Ketupat operation in 2022 is different from the operations carried out in previous years.

"This operation is not a simple operation, because it is predicted that as many as 85.5 million travelers with 47 percent use land transportation media. So this is not a playful operation," said Firman in a written statement quoted by Antara, Thursday, April 21.

This was also conveyed by Firman during the 2022 Ketupat pre-operation exercise at the NTMC building of the Korlantas Polri. The exercise is expected to increase the professionalism and synergy of the National Police in securing Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijriah.

He emphasized that President Joko Widodo gave serious attention to securing the Eid homecoming in 2022. This must be a concern for all personnel of the National Police Traffic Corps, so as not to take it easy and lightly.

"If we take things lightly, usually what happens is we are careless. Later when something happens then we just stutter. We didn't expect this," he emphasized.

The National Police held Operation Ketupat 2022 which prioritizes the smooth implementation of the return and return flow of Eid 2022 through traffic engineering, especially on toll roads with a one-way and odd-even system.

The National Police has published a schedule for the implementation of the one-way and odd-even system on toll roads at the peak of the homecoming flow from May 28 to 1, and the peak return flow from May 6 to 9 2022. The one-way and odd-even system is implemented starting from KM 47 Toll Jakarta-Cikampek to KM 414 Kalikangkung Toll Gate.

Operation Ketupat 2022 involves 144,392 joint TNI-Polri personnel, local governments, and volunteers, consisting of 876 Polri Headquarters personnel, 87,004 Regional Police personnel, and 56,512 personnel from related agencies.

This operational activity lasted for 12 days starting from April 28 to May 9, 2022, which was preceded by a troop title on April 27.
