April 21 Demo, Students Focus On Three Issues That Drag Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan's Name

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Student Alliance (AMI) and the University of Indonesia Student Executive Board (BEM UI) plan to hold a demonstration in front of the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta today, Thursday, April 21.

The April 21 demonstration focused on three issues which eventually dragged the name of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

Spokesperson for the Student Political Block (BPP), Delpedro Marhaen said the first focus of the mass action of AMI and BEM UI was on postponing elections and extending the presidential term. Next is the issue of economic and business inequality.

"How power has a mushrooming business, and also how power uses its power to perpetuate its business," Pedro said on the YouTube channel Refly Harun, Thursday, April 21.

The last one is about attacks on civilians. Pedro said that from the three focuses, the public and students were able to narrow down the main actors.

Pedro said that the community and students had met one of the many common enemies.

"It can be seen that the actors, the public have been able to classify, or see, from the series of events. Whether in the issue of delaying [elections], business and economic issues, the issue of attacking civilians, there is one actor in common, which we call Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan," Delpedro said.

Pedro hopes that the demonstration held by AMI and BEM UI today will not create political divisions. Because the main focus raised by AMI and BEM UI is not only the rejection of the addition of presidential powers, but also about the economy and attacks on civilians.

"Therefore, don't let what the President, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs say regarding the postponement of the election, regarding his commitment to holding the election, don't let it divide the issues in society, because our issue is not just delaying the election, but there are economic issues and attacks on civilians," he said. .
