Personnel Are Often Beaten, Polda Metro Prepares Various Anticipatory Steps During Student Demonstration April 21

JAKAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya has optimized all elements to deal with mass student demonstrations in three locations. The goal is that demonstrations will not end in chaos, including violence against police officers while on duty.

"We will optimize more for the prudence and security of members, hopefully none of our members will be attacked by the masses," said Traffic Director of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo to reporters, Thursday, April 21.

Security optimization is carried out to anticipate the emergence of intruders. Reflecting on previous rallies, the commotion was always preceded by intruders.

Those who mingled with the mass of questioning took part in voicing their opinions. However, the real intention was to make the demonstrations uncontrollable and chaotic.

"Of course the liquid masses who did come tried to provoke them, so that they then carried out anarchic actions which then caused the aspirations of the demonstration to become uncontrollable," said Sambodo.

Therefore, Sambodo appealed to the masses not to be easily provoked and to participate in maintaining security. Police as a security party will serve well.

"We urge the masses to aspire well, not to take anarchic actions from the results of the unras, we will serve to protect them but they must also be able to take care of themselves and prevent them from being provoked," said Sambodo.

For information, in the previous student demonstration, 6 police officers were beaten by the intruders. They were injured and had to undergo medical treatment.

Meanwhile, a number of student elements plan to hold a demonstration on Thursday, April 21. They demanded 7 things, one of which was the refusal to extend the presidential term. The plan is for the demonstration to be held at three points, namely, the Horse Statue area, the Indonesian House of Representatives, and Harmoni.
