JAKARTA - The Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is considered to be a safety bulwark for the KPK leadership. They are considered not to carry out their duties to enforce ethical sanctions for KPK employees who violate them.

This was conveyed by Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) researcher Kurnia Ramadhana against the KPK Supervisory Board's decision not to impose sanctions on the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Lili Pintauli Siregar for lying to the public.

Lili was called lying because at a press conference, she admitted that she had never had any contact with the litigants, the former Mayor of Tanjungbalai.

"Once again, we have seen that the Dewas acts as a bulwark for the KPK leadership," said Kurnia in a written statement quoted on Thursday, April 21.

Not only that, ICW also admitted that he failed to understand the logic of the KPK Supervisory Board in investigating this allegation. Because, even though it was proven that he had lied, no sanctions were given on the grounds that Lili had already been sanctioned.

In fact, continued Kurnia, the object of examination between the two reports of ethical violations is different. "The penalty for cutting the LPS sister's salary is related to her communication with the former Mayor of Tanjungbalai as a litigant at the KPK, not a press conference," he said.

Even so, Kurnia thinks that Lili should immediately resign even though she is not sanctioned after being proven guilty of lying.

"She (Lili Pintauli Siregar, ed) is no longer worthy of her position as the KPK leader," said the anti-corruption activist.

Previously, the KPK Supervisory Board decided not to continue the report on the alleged public deception by the Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Lili Pintauli Siregar, to the ethics trial.

In a letter signed by a member of the Corruption Eradication Committee, Harjono with the number: R-978/PI.02.03/03-04/04/2022 dated April 20, which was addressed to former KPK employee Benydictus Siumlala, et al as a reporter, it was stated that Lili's alleged ethical and behavioral violations it will not continue.

"The actions of sister Lili Pintauli Siregar who allegedly violated the Supervisory Board Regulation Number 02 of 2020 concerning the Code of Ethics and the Code of Conduct of the Corruption Eradication Commission, were not continued in the ethics trial because the ethical sanctions had already been absorbed by the Ethics Court Decision Number 05/DEWAS/ETIK/07/2021 ," said the letter, Wednesday, April 20.

The letter also ensures that information gathering and clarification activities have been carried out. Not only that, Lili has also been proven to have lied at a press conference on April 30, 2021 by stating that she has never communicated with the litigants, namely the former Mayor of Tanjungbalai M Syahrial.
