Mojokerto Police Increase Patrols In Begal-Prone Paths, Kring Detective Teams Are Deployed

MOJOKERTO - Police officers from Mojokerto, East Java, have stepped up patrols in quiet lanes that are prone to criminal acts of thugs at night, especially before Idul Fitri 1443 Hijri.

Head of Public Relations of the Mojokerto Police, Iptu MK Umam, said that in addition to increasing patrols, his party also dispatched a "Kring Detective" team to assist patrols on roads that have the potential for criminal acts of robbery to occur.

"This was carried out following information from the public regarding the terror of robbery in a number of deserted streets. The patrols, which were previously carried out at night, are now carried out until dawn," he said, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, April 20.

He said that information received from the public stated that the suspected robbers were armed with sharp weapons and acted on the route between Gedeg District and Jetis District.

"In order to anticipate this, the Mojokerto Police carry out night patrols," he continued.

Umam said the patrol was carried out as a measure to anticipate disturbances in the security and social order in the Mojokerto Police jurisdiction, namely by increasing patrol hours, especially at night.

"From the public's confession, the robbers act on the cast road from the south in Kupang Village, Jetis District," he said.

The condition of the road in question is indeed not many vehicles that pass and is also surrounded by rice fields, so that at night it is very quiet.

"The information is that the perpetrator carrying a sharp weapon sat on the side of the road. When there was a target, he was immediately pursued," he said.

Umam said that until now his party had not received any reports of victims as a result of the robbery. This is because the driver who will be the target of the robbers managed to escape from the perpetrators when they entered the residential area.

Even so, he said, the incident caught the attention of the police so that the police increased patrols in quiet areas by increasing the duration of patrols which usually only carried out at night, now until dawn.

Anticipation of the crime was also carried out by other ranks of the Polsek and the Kring Investigation Team from the Satreskim Polresta Mojokerto to follow up on this robbery case.

In particular, he said, there are a number of deserted areas that are prone to robberies, such as in Kupang Village, Bendung Village, Mojolebak Village, Canggu, Parengan under the toll road, and the Watu Blorok Forest area.

"The lanes are quiet at night and are often used to carry out criminal acts. Criminals also move to find quiet places. We continue to maximize night patrols in the Mojokerto Police jurisdiction," he said.
