JAKARTA - A robber with the initials S (35) was arrested after being chased by a mob because he was caught stealing the cellphone belonging to victim NH (26) on Jalan Jembatan Besi, Tambora, West Jakarta.

The suspect was detained by members of the Tambora Police who were around the scene. For further processing, suspect S was then taken to the Tambora Police.

"The residents were chasing the perpetrator, there happened to be a member of the Sector Police at the location, secure the perpetrator and take him to the Mako (command headquarters)," said Tambora Police Chief Kompol Rosana Albertina Labobar, Tuesday, April 19.

The police chief said that the incident began when the victim was sitting in an angkot, even facing the perpetrator of the robbery.

Initially the victim did not suspect the perpetrator. But suddenly the perpetrator quickly grabbed the victim's cellphone and got off the public transportation. However, the suspect was caught by the police.

After the perpetrator was arrested by the police, the victim's cellphone was confiscated. When NH tried to contact her cell phone, which was stolen, it turned out that the one who picked up the cellphone was a member of the Tambora Police.

"The victim called his cellphone but was appointed a member, directed to the Police to make a written report. The perpetrator was subject to Article 365 of the Criminal Code," he said.
