Focus Of Main Tasks, President Of Syarikat Islam: Acting Regional Heads Are Prohibited From Having Multiple Positions

JAKARTA - The President of the Syarikat Islam Hamdan Zoelva assessed that the acting regional head should not have concurrent structural positions in the echelon. The prohibition of concurrent positions is important so that related parties focus on their main duties and responsibilities.

This was conveyed by Hamdan when giving a presentation in an event entitled 'Preventing the Politicization of Acting Regional Heads for Winning the 2024 Election' which was broadcast on the Salam Radio Channel YouTube channel, Tuesday 19 April.

"It is important to ensure full concentration of the acting regional heads by ensuring that the acting regional heads do not hold concurrent positions in structural positions in their previous echelons," said Hamdan.

He said, ahead of the 2024 General Election (Election) and the 2024 simultaneous regional head election (Pilkada), structural officials in the ministry must have a high workload, especially the Ministry of Home Affairs.

On the other hand, acting regional heads will also have to deal with preparations for general elections in their respective regions. This condition can be a challenge for an acting regional head if he is still actively holding his previous position.

"If it is doubled, it will cause problems and difficulties in allocating time for the acting regional head. Is the full concentration on managing the region or carrying out bureaucratic affairs in the ministry?" he said.

Hamdan emphasized that being a regional head is not a side job. By 2024, regional heads have a lot of activities in implementing the bureaucracy and dealing with politics.

Moreover, currently various regions in Indonesia are also dealing with price increases which are getting the public's attention. In these conditions, regional heads are the frontline for the government in implementing policies and dealing with community demands.

Therefore, Hamdan is of the opinion that relinquishing bureaucratic positions is a way out that must be taken.

"When he becomes the acting regional head, his structural position must be deactivated or replaced. That's a way to guarantee that the acting regional head has full attention to carry out his duties as regional head," he said.
