When The KPK Supervisory Board Ensures Handling Of Lili Pintauli's Gratification Allegations Is Not Covered Up

JAKARTA - The Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has ensured that the handling of the alleged receipt of gratification in the form of accommodation and tickets for the Mandalika MotoGP by KPK Deputy Chair Lili Pintauli Siregar runs optimally. All processes are ensured to be open and nothing is covered up.

This was conveyed by a member of the Corruption Eradication Committee, Syamsuddin Haris, in response to the statement of the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD who asked that the alleged gratification that ensnared Lili be investigated in a transparent manner.

"Nothing is being covered up. Currently, the Council is still in the stage of gathering information, materials, and statements from parties who are suspected of knowing and possessing information about the alleged ethical violations committed by Ms. IDIC," said Syamsuddin in a written statement to reporters, Monday, April 18th.

One of the parties who will be questioned, continued Syamsuddin, is PT Pertamina (Persero). This state-owned company is suspected of providing gratification in the form of accommodation and MotoGP tickets for Lili.

The KPK Council asked Pertamina to cooperate with the investigation into this alleged gratification. The trick is to provide correct information about all the information they know.

"Relevant parties, including Pertamina and its subsidiaries, can cooperate and be cooperative, namely by providing true and honest information regarding the information they know," he said.

Mahfud MD in his written statement did ask Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean, et al to be transparent in investigating Lili's alleged ethical violations. In addition, the KPK Supervisory Board is asked to be firm if the deputy chairman of the anti-corruption commission is proven to have received gratuities.

The former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) said this firmness needed to be done to prevent public distrust of the anti-corruption commission. Meanwhile, punishment needs to be given to prevent demoralization.

"Dewas must show a firm attitude to the public. If Lili Pintauli is wrong, he must be punished. However, if he is right, he must be defended. Do not let public distrust occur but also do not cause demoralization and discomfort within the KPK internally," Mahfud said in his written statement.

Not only that, but Mahfud also advised the KPK to deal wisely with allegations of gratification of this kind. Moreover, the issue of ethical violations committed by Lili is also included in the report on human rights violations issued by the United States Department of Foreign Affairs.

For information, Lili is not the only time she has been accused of violating ethics. He was previously declared to have violated ethics on August 30, 2021, for having contact with litigants at the KPK, namely the former Mayor of Tanjungbalai who was involved in a bribery case.
