SURABAYA - Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi forbade state civil servants (ASN) within the scope of the city government to use official cars to travel back and forth to their hometowns during Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijri.

"The official car is not used for returning to work (homecoming), but it will still be used for operations," said Mayor Eri Cahyadi in Surabaya as reported by Antara, Monday, April 18.

According to him, the central government has given permission to the public, including ASN, to return to their hometowns during Lebaran. However, he said, the Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) forbade ASN who wanted to carry out Lebaran homecoming this year using official cars.

This is as stated in the Circular Letter (SE) of the Minister of PANRB Number 13 of 2022 concerning Leave for State Civil Apparatus Employees during the National Holiday Period and Joint Leave for Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijriah.

Mayor Eri ensured that during the 2022 Eid holiday, the official car belonging to the Surabaya, East Java City Government, would not be used for homecoming trips. However, the car may be used if it is for operations when the ASN is on duty.

He explained that during the 2022 Eid holidays and leave, the Surabaya City Government implemented a picket schedule for every ASN. This means that during holidays and Eid leave, ASN will take turns on duty.

"Later at the Surabaya City Government there will be pickets, if (the official car) is used, it's okay, if you use it you can't go home," he said.

The Central Government has set a joint holiday for Eid Al-Fitr 1443 Hijri to fall on April 29 and May 4, 5, and 6 2022. In addition, Eid holidays have also been set for May 2 and 3, 2022.
