The COVID-19 Task Force Reminds Potential Of Industrial Clusters From The Demonstration Against The Ciptaker Law

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, said that his party did not prohibit demonstration activities during the pandemic, including the rejection of the Omnibus Law of the Work Creation Law which was running today.

However, Wiku reminded all elements of society, especially workers who carried out demonstrations that there was a potential for COVID-19 transmission which ended in clusters in one location.

"Many industrial clusters have sprung up. This of course also has the potential to disrupt the performance of factories and other industries, and a similar potential will also appear in the crowd activities carried out today," Wiku said in the Presidential Secretariat Youtube broadcast, Tuesday, October 6.

Then, Wiku said that the government would not use Law Number 6 of 2018 concerning Health Quarantine as a legal action against crowd perpetrators.

In Article 93, it is stated that every person who does not comply with and / or obstructs the implementation of health quarantine causing a public health emergency can be imprisoned for a maximum of 1 year and / or be fined a maximum of Rp. 100 million.

"Until now, there are no plans to use the Health Quarantine Law in response to this (demonstration)," he said.

Meanwhile, the dissolution of aspirations conveying activities, according to Wiku, is the authority of the law enforcement apparatus, in this case the police on duty.

"Therefore, we encourage those who wish to convey their aspirations to obey the direction of the police during the activity," he explained.

To people who exercise their right to democracy today, Wiku appealed to them to keep implementing health protocols, such as wearing masks and maintaining distance.

"To avoid clusters, we urge the participating people to be disciplined in implementing all health protocols for the safety of all of us," he concluded.
