JAKARTA - The North Jakarta City Government has prepared generators and solar panels for electricity needs in evacuations in handling floods in the area.
"We are preparing four units of generators and two solar panels, if one day it is needed in an emergency flood refugee tent," said Head of North Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Sub-Department, Gatot Subroto in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, October 6.
Gatot detailed four portable generator units consisting of two 80 kilo volt ampere (kva) generator units, one 25 kva generator unit and one 10 kva power unit.
Meanwhile, portable solar panels consist of one unit for electric power of 80 kva and one unit for electric power of 25 kva and 10 kva.
"The generator unit we have prepared includes diesel. The unit is used for electricity needs, not lighting because our lighting is in collaboration with the North Jakarta City Administration for Bina Marga," said Gatot.
To operate the generator unit, Gatot prepared nine personnel, including one ladder unit and one operational service vehicle (KDO).
"In general, the units and personnel we are alerting can be used at any time," said Gatot.
The North Jakarta government exerts all its efforts in dealing with floods in the rainy season. This is reinforced by the North Jakarta Mayor's Instruction Number 32 of 2020 concerning Flood Disaster Management.
One of the instructions was to assign related regional work units (UKPD) to sub-district heads to prepare action plans in dealing with floods in the rainy season.
