50 Percent Of New Health Protocol Supervisory Working Groups From All Pilkada Regions

JAKARTA - Election organizers such as the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu), the General Election Commission (KPU), the Honorary Council of Election Administrators (DKPP) have formed a working group to supervise the implementation of health protocols in the 2020 Pilkada.

The Pokja, which also involves the TNI, Polri, and the Attorney General's Office, was actually initiated before the campaign period on September 26. However, until now, there are still 50 percent of the working group team members in 270 regions holding the 2020 Pilkada.

Even though the campaign period has been running. In addition, it is also known that there are still violations of health protocols such as mass gathering that exceeds the provisions of both the candidate pairs and the campaign team.

"Until now, more than 50 percent of the working groups have formed that will carry out the pilkada. The rest are still in the process of forming and will be accelerated," said Bawaslu Chairman Abhan in his statement, Tuesday, October 6.

Abhan explained, the formation of the 2020 Pilkada working group is important to facilitate the coordination function for prevention and handling of protocol violations to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

"The importance of streamlining team performance, especially in terms of handling violations of health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19," said Abhan.

According to Abhan, this working group works by prioritizing prevention processes such as socialization by focusing on election participants and vulnerable areas.

When there is a violation, the working group will act to impose administrative sanctions in the form of terminating or dissolving campaign activities or imposing sanctions for not participating in the campaign for three days.

"If in the field there is a violation of the health protocol, then the recommendation is submitted through the working group," explained Abhan.

According to Bawaslu's records, there were 43 violations of health protocols committed by candidate pairs or campaign teams by gathering a crowd of more than 50 people in one room during the campaign period.
