PPP DKI Wants To Promote Anies-Khofifah Candidates For Vice President In 2024

JAKARTA - Regional Secretary of DKI Jakarta DPW PPP Najmi Mumtaza Rabbany said that his party wanted to propose names of figures to be promoted as presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 election.

The two presidential and vice presidential candidates to be proposed are Anies Baswedan and Khofifah Indar Parawansa. This will be conveyed by DPW PPP DKI to DPP PPP in a regional leadership meeting (rapimwil) which will be held this afternoon.

"(Anies-Khofifah's name) is one of the aspirations, but we have not ratified it because through the regional regulation we will discuss it slowly," Najmi said when contacted, Thursday, April 14.

Najmi revealed that the DPP PPP had mentioned the desire to carry Anies as a presidential candidate some time ago. Najmi admitted that the discourse on carrying Anies was motivated by the wishes of a number of party cadres and constituents.

"Indeed, that is the aspiration of the grassroots, of course there will be voices from the grassroots. Moreover, we are in DKI Jakarta who directly feel the impact of his leadership (Anies)," said Najmi.

Meanwhile, regarding the selection of figures to be paired with Anies, Najmi admitted that he was still very fluid. So, it is possible that Khofifah will not be paired and replaced with another character.

"As for the pair of Mr. Anies, it is still open. We heard that there was also the name Ridwan Kamil, there was Erick Thohir, and one of them was Mrs. Khofifah," said Najmi.

However, Najmi emphasized that this proposal still needs further discussion. "Rapimwil did discuss the presidential election package, but this name is not final yet," he added.
