Deputy Chairperson Of Commission VII DPR Still Considers Ade Armando To Blaspheme Religion

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission VII DPR Eddy Soeparno urged the authorities to process the law for the perpetrators of the beating against social media activist Ade Armando. The beating was carried out by a group of people during a student demonstration in front of the DPR early last week.

"I support the investigation and legal action against the perpetrators of violence against AA [Ade Armando]," he wrote on his Twitter account @eddy_soeparno, Thursday, April 14.

However, the PAN politician also hopes not to obscure the figure of Ade Armando. He assessed that Ade was still a lecturer at the University of Indonesia (UI) who was involved in the alleged blasphemy case so that the legal process did not work in place.

"But I also support firm legal action against those who insult religion and scholars, including AA," he continued.

Ade Armando is known to be involved in a case of alleged blasphemy after being reported by a man named Johan Khan in 2016.

Denny Siregar's best friend was reported to be related to his writing on social media Twitter with the @adearmando1 account in 2015. Through his Twitter account, Ade wrote, "Allah is not an Arab. Of course Allah is happy if His verses are read in Minang, Ambonese, Chinese style. Hip Hop, Blues".

Ade was later named a suspect in the alleged violation of Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) after Johan Khan submitted a pretrial to the South Jakarta District Court.

In this case, the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya previously issued an Investigation Termination Order (SP3).
