SIDOARJO - Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes East Java II (Kanwil DJP Jatim II) confiscated the assets of a tax evader with the initials RS.

Acting (Plt) Head of Regional Office of DJP East Java II Dudung Rudi Hendratna said the assets confiscated by officers were in the form of land and buildings with a land area of 77 square meters and a building area of 148 square meters located in Madiun City.

"The hospital has been named a suspect in a tax crime case, namely intentionally submitting a notification letter (Personal Income Tax Return) and/or information whose contents are incorrect or incomplete for the 2015 to 2017 fiscal years," he explained as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, April 13.

The suspect is said to have failed to report his business to be confirmed as a PKP and did not submit a VAT tax return for the tax period January 2016 to December 2017.

"This is as referred to in Article 39 Paragraph (1) letters a, c, and d of Law Number 6 of 1983 concerning General Provisions and Tax Procedures as amended several times by Law Number 7 of 2021 concerning Harmonization of Tax Regulations. (HPP)," he explained.

Dudung said, before the process of confiscation of the taxpayer's assets, the Regional Office of DJP East Java II always prioritized persuasive collection actions to taxpayers.

"Taxpayers are encouraged to comply with applicable regulations, but if this is not successful, then active billing will be carried out, including the confiscation action," he said.

Dudung said, several Tax Service Offices (KPP) within the East Java II Regional Tax Office have also taken active collection actions by seizing the assets of tax arrears, including KPP Madya Sidoarjo, KPP Madya Gresik, KPP Pratama Lamongan, KPP Pratama Sidoarjo Barat, and KPP Pratama Sidoarjo Barat, and KPP Pratama Gresik.

"The confiscated taxpayer assets ranged from trucks, cars, houses, bank accounts, to cash," he said.

The confiscation of taxpayer assets carried out by the Regional Office of the DJP East Java II shows the seriousness of law enforcement in the field of taxation.

"Strict law enforcement is expected to provide a deterrent effect for perpetrators of tax crimes, as well as an effort to secure state revenues," he said.
