AGO Collaborates With PBNU To Promote Anti-Corruption Movement

JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office cooperates with the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU) in preventing unlawful acts and law enforcement in the community.

This cooperation plan was discussed during a meeting between Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin and PBNU General Chair KH Yahya Cholil Staquf which took place at the PBNU office on Jalan Kramat Raya 104, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 12.

This moment also served as a gathering place for Attorney General Burhanuddin for the election of KH Yahya Cholil Staquf as Chairman of PBNU.

During the meeting, the Attorney General asked PBNU for support in law enforcement, especially the corruption cases currently being handled by the Adhyaksa Corps.

"I also hope that NU can play a role in the application of local values in various Restorative Houses formed throughout Indonesia as a program that is currently receiving appreciation from the community," said Burhanuddin, in a written statement quoted by Antara.

For information, the Attorney General's Office has established Restorative Houses throughout Indonesia as an institution that can resolve cases quickly, simply and at low cost.

The General Chair of PBNU KH Yahya Cholil Staquf welcomed the meeting with the Attorney General which he said had an important meaning in the context of establishing cooperation between NU and the Attorney General's Office.

According to him, there are many collaborations that can be established, especially in the field of legal guidance for about 20 thousand Islamic boarding schools and madrasas owned by NU throughout Indonesia. NU needs lecturers in the field of law by promoting the Prosecutor Entrance Islamic Boarding School program.

After staying in touch, both parties agreed to follow up the meeting by making a memorandum of understanding (MoU) so that close cooperation occurs in the context of preventing unlawful acts and law enforcement in the community.
