JAKARTA - Member of the General Elections Commission (KPU) Hasyim Asyari asked the DPR to hold a hearing (RDP) regarding the stages, schedule, program, and budget for the 2024 General Election before the recess.

As is known, the DPR will start a recess period on Friday, April 15, 2022 and finish after Eid 1443 H.

"The KPU continues to propose that the RDP discuss the stages of the 2024 General Election this week as long as this session is still in before the recess period, and so that the RDP is not carried out during the next session," said Hasyim in his statement, Monday, April 11.

Hasyim said, the DPR needs to immediately schedule an election discussion meeting with the government and election organizers this week to assure the public that the 2024 election will not be postponed and will remain on schedule.

"This is to convince the public that the 2024 General Election will continue according to the planned schedule and provide time for the KPU to prepare before entering the stage which will begin on June 14, 2022," said Hasyim.

This member of the KPU for the 2017-2022 period as well as the elected Member of the KPU for 2022-2027, proposed that the RDP discussion of the general election be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022. This considers a number of things.

Among other things, there will be an inauguration of new KPU members on Tuesday, April 12 at the State Palace at 13.00 WIB. Then, after the inauguration, the members of the 2022-2027 KPU will carry out internal consolidation to prepare the RDP.

"Based on this, it is necessary to propose that the Secretary General of the KPU write to the DPR and ask for a rescheduling of the RDP to be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 13.00," he said.
