Cancel Demonstration In Front Of The Merdeka Palace, Tomorrow BEM SI Will Be Holding The DPR

JAKARTA - The All-Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM SI) will hold a demonstration on Monday, April 11, tomorrow. The demonstration which was originally going to be held in front of the Merdeka Palace, has now shifted to the front of the House of Representatives (DPR) Building.

BEM SI Media Coordinator Luthfi Yufrizal said by moving the location of the demonstration, the gathering point was in front of the TVRI building, Senayan.

"The gathering point is at TVRI. We take action to the DPR," he told VOI, Sunday, April 10.

Furthermore, Luthfi said the reason the action points were moved was because students wanted to make sure the existing constitution was running.

"Therefore, we will oversee the law and ensure that the DPR RI implements the constitution properly in accordance with the existing one," he said.

For your information, the BEM SI action will hold a demonstration on Monday, April 11. The campus consists of UNJ, PNJ, IT-PLN, STIE SEBI, STIE Dharma Agung, STIS Al Wafa, IAI Tazkia, AKA Bogor, UNRI, Unand, Unram, PPNP, Undip, UNS, UNY, Unsoed, SSG, and STIEPER.

Previously reported, Lutfi said thousands of students who are members of BEM SI will take to the streets to voice their aspirations. Especially, regarding the clarity of the discourse on postponing the general election (election) and extending the leadership term of President Joko Widodo.

"Our mass estimate is 1,000 (people) from all universities who are members of BEM SI," said Luthfi.

During the demonstration, Luthfi emphasized that BEM SI would follow the existing rules. This means that there is no intention at all to make the demonstration turn into chaos.

"We don't act with a chaotic or anarchistic goal," he said.
