Inspired By Money Heist, BJB Bank Robbery Perpetrators Pay Rp. 60 Million Per Month In Car Wash Debt

JAKARTA - The police revealed that the perpetrator of the West Java and Banten Bank (BJB) robbery, BS, was determined to rob because he was in debt from his car wash business. This was stated by the South Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Budhi Herdi Susianto.

As is known, BS, who works as an employee at a private bank and has a salary of Rp. 60 million per month, is known to have debts with his friend of Rp. 1.5 billion.

"Yes, it is true that he is in debt, (because) he is developing a car wash business," said Budhi when confirmed, Saturday, April 9.

When asked further about his business, Budhi refused to explain more clearly. Because it is still for the purposes of investigation.

"We're still investigating," he said.

Meanwhile, the film that inspired the perpetrators to carry out an attempted robbery at Bank BJB was the Film Money Heist. This is based on the perpetrator during the examination.

"He was inspired from there, right there, there were robbers who brought all kinds of equipment including smoke grenades. He (BS) told us he was inspired by the film (Money Heist)," he said.

Previously reported, Kasatreskrim Polres Metro South Jakarta, AKBP Ridwan Soplanit revealed the reason BS did the robbery at Bank BJB because he was in debt with his friend with the initials D amounting to Rp 1.5 billion.

Ridwan said, the perpetrator initially borrowed money with D worth IDR 1 billion since January 2022 for business purposes. However, because the suspect was unable to pay, the interest increased to Rp. 500 million.

But until the specified due date on Friday, April 8th. So that the perpetrators darkened their eyes and carried out an attempted robbery at the BJB Bank.

"So it must be returned within three months, the purpose is for business," he said.
