Confessing To Be In Debt, A Teenager With A Minor Snatches The Shop Keeper's Cellphone

JAKARTA - Two robbers who went viral on social media were finally arrested by members of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kembangan Police. When the arrests were made, the two suspects with the initials BP (19) and HF (14) admitted that they were in debt.

The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Kembangan Police, AKP Reno Apri, said that one of the two robbery suspects was still a minor. From his confession, this is the first time they have acted.

They, continued AKP Reno, were desperate to steal because they needed money. And the cellphones that were stolen were sold by the two perpetrators for Rp. 1.1 million. However, Reno did not give details of what debt the perpetrators had.

"According to his confession, the perpetrator has only done it once. The proceeds of the crime were to pay off debts. The victim's cellphone was sold," Reno briefly told reporters, Thursday, April 7, evening.

After carrying out the action, the two fled to Karawang, West Java.

"They were arrested while they were in a shop in the Karawang area, West Java," he said.

From the hands of the two suspects, the police confiscated evidence of a red Honda Scoopy motorbike and the clothes worn by the two suspects during their action.

"The perpetrator was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison," he said.

Previously, two young men were desperate to snatch a girl's cellphone on Jalan Murni Joglo, Kembangan, West Jakarta on Tuesday, March 29.

This action was considered reckless because the suspects committed the crime of snatching in the alley during the day.

The action went viral after it was uploaded to an Instagram social media account. In the video which has a duration of 1 minute 26 seconds, the two young men using a red Honda Scoopy motorbike snatched the cellphone belonging to the boy who was playing alone.
