Has An Important Role In Improving The Job Creation Law, Coordinating Minister Airlangga Hopes Revision Of The PPP Law To Be Accelerated

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga together with a number of Ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet held a working meeting with the Legislative Body of the House of Representatives today.

The presence of several ministers representing President Joko Widodo to deliver an explanation of the Problem Inventory List (DIM) on the Draft Law on the Second Amendment to Law Number 12 of 2011 concerning the Formation of Legislations (RUU PPP).

Airlangga emphasized that the government is serious about discussing the revision of the PPP Law. According to him, the completion of the amendment to the PPP Law is the basis for the revision of the Job Creation Law (Ciptaker) which the Constitutional Court (MK) has declared conditionally unconstitutional.

He asked the government and the DPR to immediately discuss and agree on changes to the PPP Law.

"The completion of the Bill on the Second Amendment to Law Number 12 of 2011 should be completed and agreed upon as soon as possible, as the basis for drafting an amendment to the Job Creation Law," said Coordinating Minister Airlangga in an electronic message received by journalists, Jakarta, Thursday, April 7.

The general chairman of the Golkar Party added that the government was waiting for the improvement of the Ciptaker Law. This is because the revision of the Copyright Law is expected to accelerate the recovery of the national economy, which is currently facing many challenges from global developments.

Airlangga emphasized that Indonesia needed various breakthroughs and initiatives, especially in an effort to increase investment and create jobs. This is very important to continue to do in order to maintain the momentum of economic growth which has returned to a positive path.

Through the Job Creation Law, the government continues to encourage increased investment and economic growth through regulatory reforms in the field of business licensing.

These reforms are aimed at solving investment barriers, namely long bureaucratic chains, overlapping regulations, and hyper-regulation.

At the working meeting to discuss the revision of the PPP Law this time, the government handed over 362 DIM. Consisting of 210 fixed DIMs, 24 substance changes DIMs, 17 new substance DIMs, 64 editorial changes DIMs, and 47 deleted DIMs. The Bill for the Second Amendment to the Law on the Formation of Legislation was initiated by the DPR.

Coordinating Minister Airlangga emphasized that the government shares the same view as the DPR to immediately complete the discussion of the PPP Bill.

"The government has seriously studied and discussed the bill, and has compiled a Problem Inventory List (DIM) by involving relevant Ministries/Institutions and has also invited academics to provide the necessary input," said Airlangga.

At the discussion of the PPP Bill, Airlangga was present with six other ministers. Namely, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD, Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, and Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.
