JAKARTA - Head of Public Relations of the DKI Jakarta Education Agency, Taga Radja Gah, said that his party had reprimanded the Cikini 02 Public Elementary School, Central Jakarta for requiring all students to wear Muslim clothes at school.

In a notification letter signed by the Principal of SDN Cikini 02 to parents of grades one to six, it is written that all students wear Muslim clothes every day during the month of Ramadan.

Shortly after this notification letter was circulated, the Principal of SDN Cikini 02 received a warning from the DKI Jakarta Education Office and the DKI Jakarta DPRD.

"So, actually yesterday the school principal was summoned and the principal admitted his mistake (about the student's wearing of Muslim clothes)," said Taga when contacted, Thursday, April 7.

Taga explained that the DKI Provincial Government does not have a policy that requires the use of Muslim clothing for all students. This is because not all students in Jakarta are Muslim.

Thus, currently the Principal of SDN Cikin 02 has changed the notification letter regarding face-to-face learning activities (PTM) during the month of Ramadan. The point of wearing Muslim clothing has been removed.

"The principal has already made an apology and revised the letter. So, the circular has been corrected," said Taga.

It is known, Jakarta has re-started 100 percent PTM since April 1, 2022. 100 percent PTM was held in all education units totaling 10,962 schools.

Jakarta has fulfilled the requirements to hold 100 percent PTM because the achievement of vaccination for students aged 12 to 18 years has reached 90 percent.
