JAKARTA - A total of 7 robbers who often act in the North Jakarta and Bekasi areas were arrested by the Cilincing Police. The head of the Cilincing Criminal Investigation Unit, AKP Alex Chandra, said that this group consisted of 12 people and they had been arrested.

Alex explained that 7 people have been named suspects, 2 are witnesses, and the remaining three are still being taught. Alex said, the average perpetrator was 17 to 20 years old, and was a student.

"A total of 9 people were arrested, there are still 3 who are still being sought and entered as DPO (People's Search List), of the 9 people, 7 are suspects and 2 are still witnesses," said Alex when contacted by VOI, Thursday, April 7.

Alex explained that the chronology of the arrests began with reports from the public regarding the occurrence of burglaries on Jalan Ujung Pandang, Marunda, Cilincing, North Jakarta, Wednesday, March 30.

The police who carried out the investigation immediately checked the CCTV and examined a number of witnesses at the scene. Simultaneously with the investigation of the crime scene (TKP), the police received another report of the same action not far from the first location.

"So at 03.30 WIB, the perpetrator managed to steal the NMAX New Hitam motorbike. Members saw that he was carrying a weapon. When he was stopped, the perpetrator managed to escape. The motorbike was covered with duct tape," he said.

After the incident, the police conducted an investigation until finally 9 perpetrators of the robbery were arrested. They were arrested in different locations.

"April 2, arrested MI, JB, J, IR at Bekti Complex, Cilincing. Then it was developed again on April 3, DD and AG were arrested in Apartments in Cibubur and Cilincing. Last April 4, GG, RH, AD Tarumajaya, Bekasi," he explained .

Alex again said that the perpetrators sold stolen goods and used the money for extravagance, using women's Open BO services and liquor (alcohol).

"The motive is because of money. He indulges in playing with women and drinking liquor," he said.

The police secured a number of evidences in the form of sharp weapons, the type of sickle, the motorbike used by the perpetrators to the clothes used during the action. For his actions, the suspects were snared in Article 365 of the Criminal Code with a threat of 12 years in prison.
