KPU Combines Updating Domestic And Overseas Voter Lists

JAKARTA - The General Elections Commission (KPU) is compiling a draft KPU regulation (PKPU) that combines the question of updating data and compiling voter lists, both at home and abroad.

KPU member Viryan Aziz said the stages of updating and compiling voter lists at home and abroad were relatively similar and carried out at the same time.

"What has changed at this time is that we are merging the PKPU for Data Updates and Compilation of Domestic and Foreign Voter Lists. He explained that the determination of the Provisional Voters List (DPS) and the National Permanent Voters List (DPT) was carried out in an open plenary meeting.

Another reason for incorporating the PKPU draft is to increase effectiveness, which can make it easier for stakeholders and the public to understand PKPU.

"For example, for friends abroad, so far they only hold the PKPU for Updating Voter Data Overseas; it will be more complete if it is put together," he said.

In addition, he mentioned other issues that were made adjustments in the PKPU draft, namely improving the definition, voters' issues and requirements to be registered as voters, as well as providing, synchronizing, and pairing data.

Furthermore, issues regarding the preparation of voter data updating materials, implementation of updating voter data, preparation and determination of voter lists, announcement of voter lists, additional voter lists, special voter lists, and information systems.
