MEULABOH - West Aceh Regent H Ramli MS stated that he rejected the plan to expand the city of Meulaboh, the capital of the local district, to become a candidate for a new autonomous region (CDOB). “In my opinion, the expansion plan is not feasible. Apart from that there is no economic stability in the region, the expansion will only burden the state's finances," said Regent Ramli MS, Tuesday, April 5. According to him, the plan for the expansion of West Aceh into a CDOB for the City of Meulaboh is an implementation of the disappointment of the leaders who lost the battle for the democratic party and lost to political aspect. Because they were allegedly disappointed with the defeat in the political arena, many leaders invited the community to divide the region into CDOB such as Meulaboh City, the capital of West Aceh Regency. Ramli MS said that with the current state debt at Rp. 7,000 trillion, it is impossible for the central government to support the birth of a candidate for a new autonomous region at this time. He explained, with the large burden of state finances, it was impossible for the government to form for the new area, then pay the ASN in the new area, and build new buildings in the expansion area.

Ramli MS suggested that tens of billions of rupiahs of funds to be used to build new areas should be used for community economic empowerment, such as building community gardens, building irrigation, and building a stronger community economy. adding new burdens," he also said. However, if the government is able to finance new regions with state finances, according to Ramli MS, this is perfectly fine. The city of Meulaboh, which is planned to be expanded, does not need to be done. Ramli MS said that what is currently needed by the community is an increase in the economy for the welfare of all people in West Aceh.
