JAKARTA - A chain message is circulating on the Whatsapp application, saying that a person named Hilman Surawijaya will help COVID-19 patients by sending supplements and bearing postage. Investigate, this assistance is actually only intended for residents of Kalideres, West Jakarta.

I am ready 24 hours to help you. Hilman Suryawijaya. Attach your swab data. Let's try to reduce this covid virus.

We also tried to contact one of these numbers via short message. Not long after, Hilman then called us back. He then explained that the supplement he was referring to was actually only intended for residents around the Kalideres area.

"So we share it . It's true that I share WhatsApp. But there is an edit. This is for humanity only but only for the Kalideres area. That is all we can afford," Hilman said during a conversation with VOI , Wednesday, September 30.

He admitted that he was surprised why the message could be spread so widely. In fact, he said he was told that his message had changed it into Chinese. Even though he doesn't speak Chinese himself.

Furthermore, he said there was a story behind his reason for taking action to distribute these supplements. His concern for COVID-19 patients emerged after two of his friends were exposed to the virus after traveling with him around last August to Bandung, West Java for work.

However, when he returned to Jakarta, two of his friends tested positive for COVID-19. Even one of them died because of his deteriorating health.

Not long after, another friend also called him and told him that he had contracted COVID-19 but had not been declared cured. So, finally he took the initiative to help his friend by sending supplements in the form of vitamin C, zinc, and others.

"Well, maybe this is the reason, that's why I took the initiative to help. But the only help is the environment. Those who are close. This is when you think about it, helping many people, because my environment, Kalideres, has a lot of difficult people," he explained.

After this chain message spread widely, Hilman admitted that he had received thousands of text messages asking for his help from various regions. "There are from Medan, Kalimantan, Bagan, and some even come from abroad," he said.
