JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Edy Wuryanto, asked the government to seek the use of halal COVID-19 vaccines, especially booster doses, for people who are going home for Eid.

Edy said that the request of Muslims to use halal vaccines is very reasonable, even the Government should seek to use halal vaccines which must be in accordance with the number or capacity of existing vaccines.
He is of the opinion that the current position of the Government is not to ignore halalness, but only to prioritize the safety of all Indonesian people.
"This country must ensure that all vaccines are halal if it is possible and there is a choice. If there is a choice, it must be halal. However, if there is no choice, for the sake of safety, yes, modest," he said.
Edy explained that the state has a duty to protect the safety of all Indonesian people during the COVID-19 pandemic.
When entering the booster vaccine stage, according to him, all Indonesian people should also follow the use of booster vaccines.
The member of the PDI-P faction emphasized that the safety of the Indonesian people is the main thing that the Government emphasizes on booster vaccination.
Moreover, according to him, it is proven that by taking the booster vaccine, the risk of getting COVID-19 is very low, meaning that the more people who have received the booster vaccine, the better for them.
"The president has taken a policy of booster vaccines, free of charge, has bought vaccines so that their people are safe and healthy. The state can do whatever it takes to make regulations so that its people take the vaccine, including those who want to go back and forth, so that it is safer for them to carry out booster vaccinations," he said.
