SURABAYA - Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi stated that he would not build a monumental building until the people in the City of Heroes were prosperous.

"What for? to build monumental buildings using the APBD, if there are still many poor people in Surabaya, there is still malnutrition in Surabaya," said Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi as reported by Antara, Monday, April 4

Eri Cahyadi, on several occasions, has always emphasized that building monumental buildings will not mean anything as long as there are still people in Surabaya who are stunted, poor, and still unable to find work.

Therefore, Mayor Eri Cahyadi wants the Surabaya City Government to collaborate with various elements of society to improve the welfare of residents in the city of Surabaya.

According to Eri, one of the elements that have worked together in dealing with malnourished and stunted children in the City of Heroes is the Surabaya City Family Welfare Empowerment Team (TP PKK).

Eri hopes that the Surabaya PKK will never tire of collaborating with the Surabaya City Government in helping the community, when they know there are people in need.

"Without them (PKK members), the Surabaya City Government is meaningless and will never produce anything. Continue to provide the best for the benefit of the people," said Eri Cahyadi.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Surabaya PKK TP, Rini Indriyani, previously said that the handling and prevention of the stunting problem had become a joint task between the PKK, the Surabaya City Government and all levels of the sub-district and village heads.

Rini asked the Surabaya Great Cadre to convey to parents, so as not to neglect to provide nutritious food and raise children.

"Don't forget to provide balanced nutrition, because once there were parents who only cared about their own appearance, but their children were stunted," he said.

He said that previously the number of children experiencing stunting in the city of Surabaya had touched 5,727 children. However, thanks to the cooperation of the OPD, sub-district head, lurah and cadres, that number showed a drastic decline to 1,534 children. In October 2021, the number was 5,727 and by the end of March 2022 it would be 1,543 children.
