Opening Hours For Malls, Restaurants, And Cafes In PPKM Area Level 2 Extended Until 22.00

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, said the government had relaxed restrictions on operating hours for malls, restaurants, and cafes in the extension of the current PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions).

Luhut said that these places of business were allowed to operate until 22.00, specifically for areas that implemented PPKM Level 2. Previously, malls, restaurants, and cafes were only allowed to operate until 21.00.

"The opening hours of malls, restaurants, and cafes will be extended to 10 p.m. in Level 2 districts/cities", Luhut said at a PPKM evaluation press conference, Monday, April 4.

However, Luhut emphasized that local governments and business place managers must continue to enforce the implementation of health protocols and the use of Care Protect, especially at the time of breaking the fast which has the potential to be crowded.

"The government will also appeal to Forkompimda and mall or restaurant managers to continue to enforce the use of Care Protect in malls, restaurants, and cafes, especially when it is approaching the period of breaking the fast", said Luhut.

Currently, Luhut said that the transmission of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 in Indonesia is in a controlled position.

In addition, specifically for the Java-Bali region, there was also a significant decline in all aspects, ranging from confirmed cases, and hospitalizations, to the death rate in almost all provinces in Java-Bali.

"All provinces in Java-Bali today experienced a decrease in cases ranging from 96 percent to 98 percent compared to the peak of Omicron cases some time ago", said Luhut.

There has been a decrease in the PPKM assessment level in several districts/cities. Where currently the majority of regions in Java-Bali have PPKM Level 1 and 2 statuses.

Meanwhile, regions that implemented PPKM Level 3 also experienced a decrease from 39 to 9 districts/cities. There are no regions that apply PPKM Level 4.
