JAKARTA - Russia 'successfully retaliated' for attacks on their fuel depots, by destroying Ukrainian fuel depots in three regions at once, last Sunday.

A spokesman for the Russian Defense Ministry Major General Igor Konashenkov said Russian troops' precision missiles had successfully destroyed large fuel depots in Konstanyinovka, Slavut, and Ternopol.

"Large fuel depots in Konstantinovka, Nikolayev region, Slavut, Rovno region, and Ternopol were hit by high-precision air-based missiles," he said, citing TASS April 4.

Maj. Gen. Konashenkov further explained that this depot was used to supply fuel to Ukrainian troops in the direction of Nikolayev and Donetsk.

"An aircraft parking lot and a fuel depot were destroyed in the attack on Balovnoye airport in the Nikolayev region. The Ukrainian air defense and flight control center was destroyed at Vesilkov airport in the Kyiv region," he said.

As previously reported, two Ukrainian military helicopters attacked a fuel depot in the Russian city of Belgorod on Friday, Russian officials said, becoming the first alleged airstrike on Russian soil since the February 24 invasion of Moscow.

The helicopter hit the facility in Belgorod, about 35 kilometers (22 miles) from the border with Ukraine, after entering Russia at low altitude, regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on messaging app Telegram.

The resulting fire injured two workers, Gladkov added, while evacuations were underway in several areas of the city.

Separately, Russian oil company Rosneft, the owner of the fuel depot, said in a separate statement that no one was injured in the fire, although it gave no information on the cause.

Meanwhile, airport infrastructure in Belgorod was not damaged by the airstrike, airport spokeswoman Anastasia Goodova told TASS.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the Ukrainian military airstrike on the Belgorod city fuel depot Friday did not create conditions for further peace talks between Moscow and Kyiv.

"Obviously, that's not what creates the conditions for further talks," he said when asked if the incident could be seen as an escalation of the conflict.
