JAKARTA - Navy Chief of Staff (Kasal) Admiral Yudo Margono and Secretary of the United States Navy (US SECNAV) Carlos Del Toro agreed to hold a joint exercise between the Indonesian Navy and the US Marine Corps (USMC).

"The joint exercise is a form of strategic cooperation between the two countries, especially in the military field," said Admiral Yudo as quoted by Antara, Sunday.

Admiral Yudo said that his party would send soldiers with experience in operations to join the training activities. He hoped that the Indonesian Navy's Marine Corps personnel could benefit from the exercise.

Admiral Yudo visited Washington DC, United States of America since March 30, 2022, and he met with United States Naval Chief of Staff Admiral Mike Gildey, Wednesday, March 30, at the Pentagon and US SECNAV Carlos Del Toro, Thursday, March 31.

In the meeting with Carlos, Yudo also discussed increasing cooperation in the field of education, including increasing the number of Indonesian Navy officers who received scholarships at the Naval Staff College (NSC) and Naval Command College (NCC) in Rhode Island, as well as scholarships to study at the National Defense University--a Lemhannas-level institution--in Washington DC.

The two parties further discussed the possibility of the US Navy opening up opportunities for Indonesian Navy divers and Indonesian Navy pilots to take short courses or education in specific areas of expertise.

Carlos Del Toro in the meeting emphasized that Indonesia and the United States have become strategic partners, especially in maintaining stability in the region.

He also conveyed his commitment that the US Navy is committed to continuing cooperation in the fields of education, training, and technology transfer.

Carlos also expressed his gratitude to Admiral Yudo, because of the enthusiasm of Indonesia in sending several Indonesian Navy officers to take training and education in the US.

Admiral Yudo also said the same thing. He appreciated the warm welcome given by US SECNAV Carlos Del Toro.

Not only meeting Admiral Gildey and Carlos Del Toro, Yudo continued to visit the Indonesian Embassy to the United States. He and the Indonesian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the US Rosan Roeslani discussed various plans for cooperation between the Indonesian Navy and the US Navy to anticipate security and stability issues in the region and the world.
