Semarang Penitentiary Officers Failed Narcotics Smuggling In The Form Of Koplo Pills In Food Delivery

JAKARTA - Semarang prison officials in Central Java thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotics in the form of Koplo pills mixed in food consisting of vegetables and chili sauce in plastic packaging.

The head of the Semarang Penitentiary, Tri Saptono Sambudji, in a press release in Semarang, Saturday, said that the failure began when the duty officer received a shipment of goods intended for the three inmates.

According to him, the suspicious guard checked, including checking the taste of the food that was sent. "When checked by officers, the food turned out to be bitter," he said.

After being examined, he said, the three packs of vegetables and two packs of chili sauce had been mixed with strong drugs which were included in list G. The packages of vegetables and chili sauce, he said, were immediately destroyed by officers by burning.

The three convicts who will receive the consignment, each FA, DL and TD, were immediately questioned. "The three were immediately examined and placed in solitary confinement as a sanction," he said.

He emphasized that the Semarang Penitentiary will take firm action against anyone involved in the circulation of Koplo pills and all kinds of narcotics within the institution.
