Meeting Ahok To Discuss MXGP, NTB Governor Hopes Pertamina Becomes Main Sponsor

JAKARTA - The Governor of West Nusa Tenggara, Zulkieflimansyah, asked PT Pertamina to be the main sponsor of the Motocross Grand Prix (MXGP) race in Samota, Sumbawa Regency on 24-26 June 2022. Zulkieflimansyah has conveyed this hope to the President Commissioner of PT Pertamina, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or familiarly called Ahok, in Jakarta, Friday 1 April.

The two met to discuss MXGP preparations in Sumbawa. In this meeting, Zulkieflimansyah admitted that he received a lot of input from Ahok to make the event a success.

"Discussing the implementation of MXGP in Samota with Pak Ahok was indeed exciting. As the President Commissioner of Pertamina, he has given many extraordinary inputs and will help carry out this activity well," he said, as reported by Antara, Saturday 2 April.

Zulkieflimansyah tried to hold the MXGP without the APBD, so that sponsorship became the most important part of this international activity. For that, he really hopes Pertamina can become the main sponsor.

"We are trying to implement this MXGP not with the APBD. There must be creativity and innovation by involving private sponsors and SOEs. If there is a strong desire, God willing, many roads will be available," said Zulkieflimansyah.

The MXGP Samota is scheduled to take place on June 24-26. Various preparations are currently being boosted by the Sumbawa Regency Government.

Especially for infrastructure, starting with widening roads, widening airport runways, to structuring ports as entrances.

Deputy Regent of Sumbawa, Dewi Noviany said, Samota was the choice because it was an interesting tourist destination to visit. Moreover, around Samota there are many other beautiful destinations.

"Samota was chosen because it has a beautiful panorama. There you can see Saleh Bay, Moyo Island and Mount Tambora," he said.

The location of the land for MXGP is also said to have been completed, so there are no potential problems that arise in the future.

"We have sat down with the Sumbawa Regency DPRD to ensure that the location is safe for MXGP activities," he said.

MXGP is not only a place to promote Sumbawa tourism, but also to create or boost the development of MSMEs and the Sumbawa tourism industry.

"We continue to socialize to MSMEs, accommodation, restaurants, inns such as hotels and homestays," he said.

Other facilities such as electricity, water and internet network are also continuously being improved to ensure the success of MXGP. Even the flags of the MXGP participating countries have flown in Samota.
